THE CAREER CENTRE
Visit the Career Centre at the foot of the escalator in the lower level of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. You will find:

• A job board with current offerings from across Canada
• Career Centre volunteers ready to review your resume and to answer any questions you may have about job searching and interviewing
• Opportunities to network with librarians and build your contacts in the profession
• Mock Interviews – watch the OLA listservs in December and January for the opportunity to schedule a “real” interview with real professionals – receive feedback to help you in your job search
• Human Library – experts in various areas will be available for “check-out” – look for the schedule in late 2010 - early 2011!
• Professional Coacthing – new this year. Watch OLA listservs in December and January for information on how to book a personal coaching session

The Career Centre Hosts this year are Yvonne Patch, Hamilton Public Library, Pam Jacobs, Brock University Library, and Jim Brett, University of Guelph Library. Elizabeth Yates is organizing the Mock Interviews, Sandra Herber is coordinating the Human Library, and Julie Mandal is offering the professional coatching.

FOCUS ON CAREERS OPEN HOUSE
The open house this year will focus on both traditional and non-traditional career possibilities and employers. This is not a job fair, but rather a chance to investigate career options, to expand career horizons, and to network with fellow job-seekers and employers.

NETWORKING…A LIFETIME SKILL
Networking is not about getting a job but about meeting and staying connected with colleagues and other library professionals throughout your career. Super Conference is one of those times in the year where library staff come together and can meet to make new acquaintances and renew old.

How do you network?
But what if you do not already have a "network"? How do you engage 4,500 people and transform 4, or 40, or 400 into your personal support system? Not only newcomers face this challenge, many experienced people have difficulty as well. But this is the place to be.

Networking: the session
Wednesday evening, we offer a special combined social get-together with real help. The Art of Networking is offered to new members and first-time conference goers to showcase what the experts suggest you do to meet people and to build a life-long enduring network. Be sure to attend Session 100 The Art of Networking. Tamara Stojakovic, Mississauga Library System, and Sarah Forbes , University of Toronto Scarborough Campus and the OLA 2011 Presidents stand ready to network with you!

Super Conference social events
There are a huge number of social events and they are all free with registration. While social events help you have fun and meet people, the whole conference is a networking opportunity if you know what you are looking for and what to do.
