Super Conference delegates are librarians, library technicians, students, authors,publishers, vendors, teachers, professors, teacher librarians, trustees, library clerks, information technologists… and that is just a start. The conference is open to anyone – from libraries, government, corporate or non-profit sectors - interested in learning more about the role of
libraries in building creative, cultural communities.

Sure we’re learning, learning, learning at Super Conference – but we deserve a little fun too. Don’t miss the friday night All Conference social party where you can be the entertainment, or just be entertained.

Choose from more than 230 provocative, practical, or just plain interesting sessions. Do not miss the keynote, spotlight and plenary sessions – 12 in total.

Like one-on-one learning? poster sessions are the way to learn about really interesting projects and you get to meet that expert. Dozens in all. or create a poster session – more details further on.

We are also featuring the “in residence” service again; experts available to you for 20 minute one-on-one private consultations. Delegates can book appointments at the oLA Member Services Centre on site (front Street lobby). So far we have our “in residence” offered to delegates by board development public space consulting, career development, and creative ideas experts.

Attend the trade show and exposition – an event unto itself. This is your chance to talk to vendors about the products and services you use everyday. Also featured are author signings and presentations, new product demonstrations, and new vendors. Check out the Index to exhibitors for a preview.

Continue with your career development. Whether you are a student looking to start out, or looking to make a change mid-career, the Super Conference this year offers even more options. The Career Centre is open Thursday and friday for interviews, résumé critiquing, and mentor match-up. Saturday features a Career Development conference-within-a-conference. from 9 am – 12 pm career seekers can attend a mix of 30-minute workshops and meet a variety of employers to discuss what different sectors are looking for, and even explore job possibilities.


BE GREEN.

We are continuing on with our compact evaluation form booklets, blogs instead of paper news, reusable (but not edible – yet!) conference bags, and online
session handouts in lieu of paper. The conference centre has a green program including recycling, reduced light use for exhibit set-up and take- down and reduced energy consumption. Something as simple as observing your hotel’s laundry recommendations
about sheets and towels can make a difference.

BE A CANUCK RUNNING AMOK!

Check out your conference bag for your pedometer and log your conference kms. Hamilton public Library issued the challenge at Super Conference 2008 and library people everywhere have since been logging their distance.
