THE INNOVATORS
THE INNOVATORS
THE INNOVATORS

Joseph W. Janes, Associate Dean, Information School, University of Washington, columnist, "The Internet Librarian", American Libraries.

In his role as Associate Dean for Academics, Joe serves as the chief academic officer of the Information School at the University of Washington. He has general oversight of the School's academic mission, including academic and curricular planning, policy matters, student services, scheduling, academic conduct and faculty development. Dr. Joseph Janes burst on to the scene several years ago with the creation of the Internet Public Library at the University of Michigan. Reference and reference services are at the core of librarianship and Joe's interests have focused on technologies that mediate and assist and on the use of networked resources in reference. He writes the Internet Librarian column in ALA's flagship magazine, American Libraries and has recently been looking at the implications of a number of new innovations around the world.
