ROBERT J. SAWYER
Award-Winning Author and Futurist
Robert J. Sawyer's specialty is extrapolating today's scientific, medical and ethical
concerns into the next few decades, and making the radical changes that are forthcoming
understandable. Rob is the resident on-air futurist for Discovery Channel Canada, a science
commentator for Newsworld, and a syndicated science columnist for CBC Radio. Rob has made
almost five hundred radio and TV appearances and has written for Maclean's, Canadian Business,
Report on Business Magazine, and The Toronto Star.
Rob's seventeen science-fiction novels have won thirty national and international writing awards
including eight Aurora Awards, the 1995 Nebula Award for The Terminal Experiment and the 2003
Hugo Award for Hominids. He has been been a finalist for the coveted Hugo Award seven times. He
is the only writer in history to win the top science fiction writers' awards in the United States,
France, Spain and Japan.
