Plenary Super Hero...

Evan Solomon

Considered "one of the top 100 people to watch" by Maclean's magazine, Evan Solomon is the co-host of CBC News: Sunday and Hot Type, an exploration of contemporary print culture, seen weekly on CBC Newsworld.

Nominated for a 2003 Gemini Award for best talk series, Hot Type is in its seventh season on CBC Newsworld. Some of the best and brightest of the world's fiction and non-fiction writers have been featured on the program. Hot Type showcased two Pulitzer Prize winning books - Jeffrey Eugenides' Middlesex and Samantha Power's A Problem from Hell: America in the Age of Genocide. Also featured were Canadian Yann Martel talking about his Booker Prize winning novel, Life of Pi and author Austin Clarke with his Giller Prize winner The Polished Hoe.

Hot Type looks to understand the world around us through books, all filtered through the active mind and engaging manner of Evan Solomon. "In a world that is getting ever more complex and faster moving, our show offers the much needed perspective, ideas and context," says Evan. "We speak with the smartest, most thoughtful people in the world who bring us ways of thinking that go well beyond the sound-bite, ways of thinking that shape the events we see every day on the news."
