In 2010, the Government of Canada issued a Consultation paper on a digital economy strategy for Canada. The reason for the consultation:
"Digital technologies are critical to every aspect of our economy and society. That is why a strategy for the digital economy is needed to ensure that Canada is positioned to benefit from the opportunities that it presents."
Libraries can play a key role in the use of digital technologies for sustainable prosperity.
