Qualitative Measurements in Hospital Libraries
Jean Maragno, St. Joseph's Healthcare, Hamilton, Ontario
Program:
We are all great at collecting statistics, but should we be looking for something that would measure quality? How can we relate patient care, patient safety, education or research to library services? Can document delivery or reference workload be measured as a ratio to number of FTEs? Can we evaluate how literature searches correlate to improvements to patient care, or change in a process. Can we assess the quality of the literature search itself? Participants will have an opportunity to share questionnaires and benchmarking strategies.

PRESS - Peer Review of Electronic Search Strategies - Leveraging the Community
Margaret Sampson , CHEO, Manager, Library Services, Ottawa, Ontario
Program:
As a librarian, one of the things I value most about my chosen profession is the collegiality and the willingness to work with other libraries on the basis of simple reciprocity. Peer review, at its best, exemplifies these values. Today's session will look at how we support each other to improve search quality for for the important searches that we do. While tools and networks I will describe are designed for the searches used in systematic review, they can be used for any search.
