Nominee
Submarine Outlaw
Philip Roy
Ronsdale Press

Philip Roy was born and raised in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, and has grown up with great affection for the sea. Having studied, travelled and worked in Canada and around the world, he has returned to Nova Scotia, where he now spends his time writing books for children and young adults. Philip has studied History, English and Music at university and has a BA from the University of Waterloo and a MA from McMaster University. Besides writing, travelling, visiting schools, playing piano and running in the woods, Philip’s favourite thing to do is to build things out of recycled materials, such as his six-foot wooden submarine, made out of wooden crutches, bicycle wheels and canoe paddles. His submarine can be seen on his publisher’s Facebook page: Ronsdale Press.
