Hazel has lived in various corners of Alberta — a prairie farm, a horse ranch in the foothills , the cityscape of Calgary — and she has always loved to write. For the last thirty years her home has been the mountain town of Canmore where a rollicking family life, coupled with her own vivid impressions of the “interesting” parts of being a kid, have lead to over forty picture books and novels for children. In between these energetic tales, the more serious novel After slowly took shape.
When she is not actively coaxing a story to life, Hazel enjoys sharing her love of writing and her enthusiasm for books of all kinds at school, libraries and conferences across Canada.
