Valerie Sherrard first decided to become an author when she was in grade six! Her homeroom teacher that year, Mr. Alf Lower, praised and encouraged her efforts and instilled in her a lifelong belief in her ability to write.
Although nearly three decades went by before she began to pursue writing seriously, Valerie never forgot her teacher’s words. (In 2001, she searched for and found her former teacher and the two remained in touch until April of 2007, when Lower passed away. Two years prior to that, Sherrard had dedicated her novel, Hiding in Plain Sight to Lower.)
After producing about a dozen books for teens, Sherrard turned her hand to picture books. In 2008 There’s A COW Under My Bed! introduced Oscar Ollie Brown. Oscar’s second adventure There’s a Goldfish in my Shoe! was released in the fall of 2009.
Since becoming a published author, Sherrard has enjoyed visiting many classrooms and libraries to speak to young people about writing, literacy, and most of all, finding and following your dreams.
Born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Valerie has lived in a number of provinces. She currently lives in Miramichi, New Brunswick with her husband Brent (who is also an author) and their four cats: Lilly, Thragg, Patoot and Cody.

David Jardine was born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, in 1985. In 1990, he and his parents moved to Miramichi N.B. where he spent 10 years in public school and 2 years in private school. David met his future wife, Pamela (who just happens to be Valerie Sherrard’s daughter) when he was in grade one. It took him 12 years to make up his mind to ask her out.David's interest in art started at a young age while watching old cartoons from the 1930's to 50's. He fell in love with the colours and the insanity these cartoons displayed. David has pursued studies in the arts at Niagara College and Brock University. After living in Ontario for several years, David and Pamela have returned to New Brunswick and are currently making their home in Miramichi. When he isn’t working on his art, David can often be found pursuing his interest in movie-making.
