Lois Peterson published adult short stories and articles for many years, and worked in a public library where she conducted programs and storytimes and helped kids, teachers and parents choose good books.
In 2007, Lois got a picture in her head of a girl walking down a hallway with her dad; she wrote Meeting Miss 405 to find out where they were going, and why.
All her stories begin with a germ of an idea that she explores using the 'W' questions Where? Why? Who? What? When? (and often How?).
When she was a kid she was often told off for being nosy. But she has learned that
these are perfect questions for a writer - even though they often keep her awake at night.
Lois grew up in England and Iraq - and she once ran away from boarding school in her housecoat and slippers.
She now lives in British Columbia where she teaches creative writing through the Surrey Writers' School (www.surreywritersschoo.com) and offers Magic Carpet Storytelling Workshops for children and adults.
