Jennifer McGrath Kent grew up alongside the Petitcodiac River in Albert County, New Brunswick. She is a writer, story-teller, essayist and occasional playwright. She has taught Writing and Composition at the University of Moncton, and English Literature at Mount Allison University. Jennifer greatly enjoys visiting local elementary schools where she performs story-telling workshops for students.
Jennifer loves nature, animals and the great outdoors. She loves books (of course!), theatre, costumes, music, fairy-tales, adventure stories and good jokes. Jennifer lives just outside of Moncton, New Brunswick with her husband, two sons, a dog, a cat and a pony.
Chocolate River Rescue is her first novel for young readers. In addition to the Silver Birch Award, this book has also been nominated for the Hackmatack Award (Atlantic Canada) and the Diamond Willow Award (Saskatchewan). Jennifer is currently at work on a sequel to Chocolate River Rescue, due to be released in the Spring of 2009. |
