The first book in the Veil of Magic series, The Nexus Ring is a fantasy for 8 - 12 year olds. On a trip home from Vancouver Island to Calgary, Josh and Maddy become ensnared in a battle for a magical ring.
The Nexus Ring is a Canadian Children's Book Centre Best Books for Kids and Teens 2008 title.

Feather Brain (Orca Book Publishers, 2008):
Lucas gets more than he bargained for with the dinosaur-making kit he bought off the Internet.
The idea for Feather Brain came from a wonderful book about making dinosaur models. On the cover was a model of a dinosaur that looked like it was leaping off the page, and I thought, What if it really could leap off the page?
