Veronika Martenova Charles, born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, was a popular teenage pop recording artist in eastern Europe before settling in Toronto and becoming an author and illustrator of children's books. Veronika has studied at Ryerson University, the Ontario College of Art and Design, and recently completed her graduate studies in Folklore at York University. Since 1991, she has been writing and illustrating children's books full-time.
