Nicole Luiken grew up on a farm in northern Alberta. She wrote her first novel at age thirteen and had three books published while she was still in high school. She is the author of six young adult novels (Unlocking the Doors, The Catalyst, Escape to the Overworld, Violet Eyes, Silver Eyes, and Frost) and one adult thriller (Running on Instinct). Her next young adult novel, Dreamfire, will be published by Great Plains Publications in spring 2009.
Nicole lives in Edmonton with her husband and three young sons. It is physically impossible for her to go without writing for more than three days in a row.
