Eliot Jones, Superhero
Written by Anne Cottringer

Anne Cottringer was born in Niagara Falls Ontario. When she was growing up she used to leave her window open on warm summer nights and hear the roar of the falls in the distance. She spent a lot of her childhood climbing trees, playing baseball and road hockey as well as exploring the banks of the Niagara River below the falls (although she never told her parents about that!).

She wasn’t very good at writing stories until one day in grade five, she wrote a ‘composition’ about horses caught in a storm. She packed it full of alliteration, similes and metaphors. The teacher told her it was very good and asked to her to read it aloud to the class. That was the beginning of her writing career although it took a long time after that for her first book to be published!

When she was twenty-two she moved to England to study film. Now she spends part of her time writing and part of her time making documentary films. Making films has taken her many places around the world: high up into the Andes Mountains in Bolivia, through safari parks in Kenya, and into the hot bustling streets of Delhi in India. But she also loves to stay home, sit at her desk and let her imagination take her to all sorts of worlds.

All her life she has wanted to have her own horse and she is still waiting for that day to come.
