The term of office for the newly elected officers and other members of the Board shall begin following the annual general meeting of the association ..and they shall hold office until their successors have been duly elected or appointed or unless removed in the meantime.

Should a vacancy occur in the office of the president or vice-president as a result of a resignation effective in the first 19 months of the term, a by-election shall be held to fill such vacancy and the person so elected shall take office on the effective date of the resignation or when declared elected, whichever is later.

Elections to fill the unexpired term of any officer shall be conducted at a general meeting of the membership from nominations accepted from the floor.

Failure to receive a nomination from the floor will result in the position standing vacant. Terms of Office of current Executive Members (President, Vice-President or Past President will be extended not more than one calendar year, until such time as an election can be conducted at the next AGM.

 

Allows for the contingency of a resignation, and the option of a term of office filled by a nomination during the AGM, or the extension of a presiding officer’s term of office.

Members of the Board shall serve terms of 2 years except that one-half of the initial Board will serve for a term of 3 years, thereby allowing for annual elections and an ongoing continuity to the Board.

Recognizes the fact that all Board members are now serving two years terms.

Compensation

No Board member shall receive remuneration for service on the Board. When authorized in advance by the Board, reimbursement may be made for travel and other out of pocket expenses in discharging official duties.

 

At 1999 AGM it was noted by the treasurer that a revision is required to state that the organization shall be carried on without purpose of gain for its members and any profit or other accretions to the organization shall be used solely to promote the objectives.
