- Friends will continue to support the library

- The new library will continue to value volunteers

- Friends will liaise with one library board

- Friends will have the freedom to decide their own structure

- Members of Friends are loyal to a local community

- There will be one library staff member to function as liaison for Friends activities

- Friends may volunteer in the library

- Friends are a non-profit, charitable association

- Revenues and materials provided by Friends will be in addition to regular operating budget, for the extension and improvement of services and resources of the Sudbury Public Library

- Friends may fund-raise, raise public awareness of the library, encourage library use, and advocate on behalf of our library in the community.

- The Friends have sole jurisdiction over their finances and governance

- The Friends are a non-partisan association

- The Friends will liaise with the Library Board, through a member of the Board

- Amalgamation means one umbrella group, but we will consider other structures such as status quo with co-operation
