With Little
Help From Your Friends
Speaker: FOCAL President Dorothy
Macnaughton
Friends of the Library groups are created to support their
library. Library users who care about their library's resources and
services in their community freely volunteer their time and energy, whether
their community is a small town, a larger city, a school, college or
university. These individuals and their families have used and enjoyed
their library, often for many years, and want to give back.
Friends don't need to be educated about the value of your
library – they already know the value and want to be active and involved
partners. This session will explore the reasons why libraries need Friends
as one of their primary partners and how your library can benefit from
having a Friends group. It will also demonstrate how Friends can
passionately spread the word about the library's value in the community.
