Why be an Advocate

Advocacy is an act.
It is continuous.
It is speaking in favour of and on behalf of an idea, an issue, a person, a goal.

Our goal is to establish the brand. That can only be done by having total commitment and your support. While your action is to promote the brand, it can also be your greatest promotional tool. It introduces you, it eases communication and gives recognition to your advocacy issues and programs. By advocating the use of @ your library^® it helps us see beyond our individual walls and places us in the bigger picture.
Library advocates speak out for free and equitable access to information knowing that an informed society is a civilized society. They promote the value of libraries and librarians to the community they serve.
